When DJ Slick hits the airwaves on 97.3, The Zone, from six to eleven pm, no one can turn it off. His satiny voice weaves in and out of sultry five-spice slow jams and cherry pie power ballads. He’s got a sweet jasmine tenor with mineral nonchalance, peppery intonations over a matte black Shure MV7. Cool and smooth as wet stones after a rain, he spins between-track soliloquies to a special someone out there. Some think it’s a strawberry-haired high school sweetheart. Others think it’s just for show. But when he seamlessly flows from improv sonnets to Marvin Gaye, you think it might just be you.
